Circling Winds

(Kevin Gilbert)

Hello my friend it's been awhile
How've you been?
I've been fine
A blank page stares up at me
It laughs at each written line
I thought for a while
That I had a window on the past
But time rescinds
I try to recall for all I've forgotten
Must return to circling winds
And I can't pick up the telephone
I would not know what to say
And the words get taken one by one
A few are left each day
Nostalgic laments for plans made but never carried through
The loneliness begins
Where will I be
When all human ties are swept away by circling winds

For old acquaintance we've forgot
Father time take your bow
I've kept a lot of pictures
But they don't say much to me now
I thought for a while that I had a window on the past
But memory rescinds
I try to recall
But all I've forgotten has returned to circling winds
